August 26, 2015 - Our local Venezuelan partner snapped the above photo at the Venezuelan-Colombian border after the Venezuelan government blocked all crossing movement. The situation is very tense and there is no official report when the border is expected to reopen. Currently, all road shipments are blocked.

Until transit between the two countries has been restored, all shipments will be held safely at our local warehouse in Caracas to await routing.

Many steamship lines have stopped or reduced calling to Venezuelan ports. The decrease of steamship container shipments coming into Venezuela has caused a shortage of containers with which to export shipments.

Similarly, few airlines are available for cargo out of Venezuela. Direct routing from origin to destination is often unavailable, causing air cargo to take the first open flight out of Venezuela. This can mean diverted routing through Europe or other airports, even for cargo destined for closer destinations such as Miami.

AIReS is in constant communication with our local partners in Venezuela, examining the best shipments options for each customer. If you have any questions, please contact your AIReS representative.
