Immigration Spotlight – Peru

We are pleased to continue our series examining country immigration requirements with a focus on Peru this month. In this post, we cover the key requirements for obtaining a Temporary Visa for Local Hires.

General Process

  1. Document collection
  2. Document conditioning, if applicable
  3. Residence Visa Appointment Booking
  4. Employment Contract Approval at Labor Ministry
  5. Residence Visa Application and Collection
  6. Entrance
  7. Interpol Certification
  8. ID Card Application and Collection
  9. Exit Permit, if applicable

Timeline

Pre-arrival: 1-3 months

Primary Employee Docments

· Passport

· Power of Attorney

· Application Form

· Andean Migration Card

 

Primary Employer Documents

· RUC Number

· ID Card of Legal Representative

· Employment Contract

· Certificate of Incorporation

· Affidavit

 

Validity

The Residence Visa is valid for 12 months and renewable

Deregistration

Notification must be made to the immigration and labor authorities. A residence cancellation must also be completed prior to departure.

Red Flags and Special Criteria

  • Exit permit may be required for qualifying dependent
  • Applicant must not enter Peru prior to their work visa being collected at the relevant consular post abroad or they risk cancellation
  • Quote applicable to foreign nationals
  • All documents in a language other than Spanish must be translated by an official Peruvian translator
  • Employment contract must be with Peruvian entity and sponsored by entity
  • Payroll in Peru
